Russia’s role in the Israeli-Iran conflict
Since its expulsion from key military bases in Syria, Russia has faced mounting challenges in maintaining its influence in the Middle East. As tensions between Israel and Iran intensify, Moscow is attempting to reposition itself as a crucial mediator to counterbalance Western influence and preserve its regional standing. However, with its military presence diminished, Russia is increasingly reliant on diplomatic maneuvering, arms deals, and partnerships with regional powers to remain relevant. Yet, skepticism from both Israel and Iran, coupled with growing Western pressure, threatens to undermine Moscow’s role as a power broker. If Russia fails to secure a lasting foothold, it risks losing its strategic leverage in the region, further eroding its global influence.
